Two slain in Crescentville home

Police have released little information about a double-murder that occurred last Thursday inside a Crescentville home in which a hammer reportedly was one of the weapons used.

Both victims, whose identities and ages were not disclosed, suffered gunshot wounds, according to an initial police report. But one of the victims may have died from blunt-force trauma to the head consistent with a hammer beating, several news organizations reported, citing unnamed police sources.

Officers were called to a house on the 500 block of Allengrove St. just after 10 a.m. after a visitor found the victims and called 911. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene within minutes.

The violence reportedly occurred during the previous night. Drugs were a factor in the killings, said police, who did not specify what type of drug activity had occurred. ••
